Have you ever heard of...

…of a Pocket Beagle?

The original of the Beagles is the Pocket Beagle. Named for its size and the fact it was carried around by hunters in their saddles bags, this little pooch was used as a Hunter. Their compact size was a great advantage as they could easily travel under bushes, shrubs and smaller spaces to hunt smaller animals such as rabbits.

They would generally not grow larger than 30cm and weigh from as little as 3kgs up to 7kgs.They look similar to a small fox hound or a shrunk down Beagle that we know of today. Their main distinct feature though is their howl, something you will hear when they are on the hunt!
Sadly it’s believed these original sized beagles were bred out into the common known larger but the Pocket Beagle has been re-created and is being bred again.
